This campaign will collect all funds raised by May 1, 2024 at 4:45 AM EDT

This Ramadan, let's work together to ensure zero hunger among the poor and oppressed single parents and orphans who need our constant support in Kashmir.

Help us distribute basic food aid to about 3000 poor families in Jammu-Kashmir especially those we missed out on last Ramadan!

This campaign is ZAKAT ELIGIBLE. By donating to this campaign you will be fulfilling your Zakat obligations, Insha Allah.

Please don't stop giving hope to those who needs help the most.

We, in the name of humanity, will continue to give back to those deserving, regardless of which month we are in.

Giving is endless!

Because giving is endless until we meet our Lord, Allah Subahana wa Ta'ala. And this is the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him.

One of the villages in a far-flung area of Kashmir that we visited in August 2023.

The Prophet, blessings, and peace be upon him, only doubles up his giving in Ramadan, not that he starts giving in Ramadan. This means he gives all the time.

Distribution of food packs in Bandipura District in August 2023.

The poor, single parents and orphans need our constant support to weather the difficulty they are facing. Your little help will mean a lot to them.

Caring for orphans is a significant part of Islam. The orphans are mentioned many times in the Quran; mistreating them is a serious offense and sin while nurturing and sponsoring them is an immensely valuable good deed.

The Messenger of Allah, blessings, and peace be upon him, said, "I and the caretaker of the orphan will enter Paradise together like this, raising (by way of illustration) his forefinger and middle finger jointly, leaving no space in between." [Saheeh al-Bukhari]

Last Ramadan, we did not manage to help all of the poor in Kashmir, despite their requests, due to a lack of funds.

But we don't want them to lose hope and we want them to know that we will not give up in helping them.

The condition of Kashmiris will not improve in one Ramadan. Our continuous support is needed for them the weather the difficulty they faced due to the prolong and endless conflict.

Therefore, we are seeking your support again to help another 300 families, especially poor single parents and orphans, by the end of this month of Shawwal.

Why Kashmir?

Why do Muslims care about Palestine? There is at least one similarity between the struggle in Palestine and Kashmir: both are oppressed Muslims in their own homeland.

Since the independence of India and Pakistan, the position of Kashmir has been at the forefront of disputes between these two countries. In the 1980s, anti-India uprisings begin in the part of Kashmir valley administered by India. Subsequent counter-insurgency action by the Indian military has racked the valley with continued violence ever since. Many children become orphaned and women became widows in this prolonged conflict, with family members either being killed or detained or just disappearing.

Single mothers are struggling!

Single mothers are struggling with poverty to raise their families. Their welfare relies on non-governmental assistance only. Our local partners are doing all they can to help, with our support. Ilizam Relief Society is striving to feed them especially those we missed out on in Ramadan.

The innocent orphan kids need our attention, and we should shower them with compassion and love. They may not understand the struggle of their single mothers, our target is they have enough food on the table and they enjoy their kids lives while they can.

Your support will benefit these poor Kashmiris who are oppressed in their own land, and the poor, the orphaned children, and the widows in this violence-racked Kashmir region.

We are giving you the opportunity to continue the sunnah of the Prophet: never stop giving until you stop breathing!

Let’s do it now!

The Plan

Distribute basic food aid to about 3000 poor families in Jammu-Kashmir. We will cover 3 districts in Jammu-Kashmir i.e. Poonch, Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipura and a few other districts in Kashmir region. About 2,000 families will have a repeat distribution of food kits in the winter because these will be families living in far-flung and hilly areas where the snow will be thick and they will not be able to survive without enough food.

Food pack: Contents for each family cost USD30.

Each pack will consist of Able to last up to 6 weeks for a family of about 5-6 persons:

  • Rice and / or flour 25-30kg
  • Pulses (dhal) 5kg
  • Turmeric powder
  • Chilli powder
  • Salt 1kg
  • Cooking oil 2kg
  • Ghee 1kg
  • Sugar 2kg
  • Tea 500gm

Ramadan Sadaqah Distribution Update: Helping 150 Families in Kashmir

Alhamdulillah, another 150 poor families in Kashmir have received Ramadan Sadaqah food packs.

For your information, part of the distribution had to be carried out behind closed doors for two reasons: Firstly, there was no permission from the Indian police/army, and secondly, due to security concerns at the distribution site.

Therefore, sometimes distribution is done openly in the involved village, while at other times, the beneficiaries are brought to a closed location for distribution.

Thank you for your contribution.

Feed the poorest muslims in Kashmir, zakat verified

Salam dearest brothers and sisters,

Last year, we endeavored to reach the impoverished families across Kashmir but fell short, leaving many in need. This year, we are committed to not only continuing our support but expanding it. Our goal is ambitious: to distribute essential food aid to approximately 3,000 families, focusing especially on those we couldn't assist last Ramadan. Each donation you make contributes towards fulfilling your Zakat and perpetuates the tradition of giving, as encouraged by the Prophet Muhammad. In doing so, you're not merely donating but providing a beacon of hope to those facing the harshest of realities.

In response to the ongoing crisis, we are urgently appealing for your support to help an additional 300 families by the end of Shawwal. These families, particularly those headed by single parents and those caring for orphans, face unimaginable hardships every day. The prolonged conflict in Kashmir has orphaned countless children and left many women widowed, all of whom rely on the compassion and generosity of people like you. With each food pack costing just USD 30, your contribution can sustain a family of five to six members for up to six weeks, offering them not just sustenance but a lifeline. Let's rally together to make an impactful difference in their lives, continuing the noble practice of giving that defines our humanity.

Continuing Support: Nurturing Hope and Unity in Kashmir

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we approach the sacred month of Ramadan in the enchanting valley of Kashmir, the need for your continued support becomes more crucial than ever. Many in our community face the harsh reality of hunger, especially during these challenging times.

In March 2024, the captivating valley of Kashmir welcomed the mild embrace of a 14-degree Celsius temperature, marking the onset of spring. However, for the impoverished residents, this climate poses additional challenges as they struggle to endure without sufficient access to food.

Daytime fasting won't pose a challenge with ample food for iftar. Numerous families, often comprising up to 10 members, including children, rely on these provisions during Ramadan.

In the heart of this breathtaking landscape, Iltizam Relief Society worked tirelessly with local partners to address hunger among the destitute, single mothers, orphans, and the poor.

Amidst the challenges of Ramadan, Iltizam Relief Society collaborates with local organizations, providing essential food packs for both iftar and suhoor, ensuring families have enough on their tables during this sacred month.

Let's come together to nurture hope and unity in Kashmir. Your support ensures that no one in our community goes to bed hungry during this sacred month. Every contribution matters, and together, we can make a difference.
Join us in our mission to create a Ramadan filled with compassion, generosity, and abundance for all.
Thank you for your continued support.

With gratitude,

Homes of single mothers in Kashmir were razed by a pre-dawn fire, destroying everything.

With the temperature falling below zero degrees Celsius, the survivors, especially their children, need temporary shelter and food to endure the harsh winter cold. Please help!

Kashmir Freezes: Temperature Hits -3.3°

Rigid Grip: Before the bone-chilling temperatures dropped to -3.3°C, Iltizam Relief Society distributed food packs and blankets to urban hardcore poor living hand-to-mouth.

The distribution is conducted indoors because the weather is too harsh.
Thanks to Allah, we managed to assist 400 families in remote areas, mountains, and hills. Otherwise, reaching them in this bone-chilling cold would be tough for our volunteers.
Thank you for your continued support. Now, we're extending aid to urban areas (towns). Please support again.

Delivering Food and Blankets to Warm the Poor and Destitute

Praise Allah alone for everything. Another 400 people now have food and warm blankets to survive this harsh winter.

We persist in implementing the Zero Hunger program, particularly during this winter in Kashmir.

We are on target to achieve our goal of providing food and blankets to more than 4,000 individuals in impoverished and remote areas of Kashmir, especially during this harsh winter.

Thank you to everyone for their kind support.

Together, we relieved the hardship of our brothers and sisters in Kashmir with this little help.

With your continued support, we are confident that we can achieve this target and bring warmth and sustenance to those in need during this challenging winter in Kashmir.

Food and Blankets Bring Comfort from Harsh Winter

Praise Allah for everything.

Grateful for the opportunity to bring comfort to another 100 families, equivalent to 1,000 people, with thermal blankets and food kits, especially crucial for their large families and many children, protecting them from the harsh Kashmiri winter.

The distributed food rations are substantial, sustaining a family throughout the winter, ensuring provisions for two months.

In the morning, Kashmir experiences sub-zero temperatures, making survival difficult for the poor.

With sufficient food, the impoverished in Kashmir can endure the harsh winter.

Thank you for your support.

You Are Our Heroes: A Tribute to Those Making a Difference

One of the houses we visited to distribute winter aid (food and blankets) belongs to this grandmother.

She is an elderly lady, almost 85 years old, living alone in a wooden hut with no children. Her only sibling is an elder sister who is very sick in the hospital.

The house she lives in is in a dire state; when snow falls, the roof may collapse.

She repeatedly pointed towards the roof and expressed her fear that it might collapse soon. Upon inspection, we found that it is no longer safe.

Alongside our local partner, we collected money from well-wishers and volunteers, and used it to replace the roof and repair her house.

We also tidied up the interior of the house to make it more comfortable for her.

She is also sick, old, and helpless; she may not live much longer. Let us help her live a decent life before she goes.

There are many similar single individuals, including single mothers with orphaned children, in Kashmir.

Without the support of our generous donors for this noble cause, people like this elderly grandmother would live in conditions unknown to fellow Muslims.

Sincere thanks from Iltizam Relief Society for supporting Kashmir (the region under India's control). Please continue your support.

Urgent: Help Provide Shelter to Families in Crisis

Urgent: Help Provide Shelter to Families in Crisis

Assalamualaikum w.r.b,

After devastating floods in Pakistan last year, families are still without proper shelter. Our plan is to replace makeshift tents with proper mud houses for 200 families at USD 1200 each. We urgently seek your support for our Community Shelter Project in Nawabshah, Pakistan.

The background of the crisis is severe, with 33 million Pakistanis affected, and winter is approaching. We face a funding gap, but construction is set to begin in July. Your support can make a significant difference. A donation of USD 1200 can provide one family with a secure shelter.

Iltizam Relief Society, active since 2013, has been impacting lives across 12 countries. By the end of 2023, we aim to establish a disabled rehabilitation center in Pakistan, inshaAllah.

Your support matters. Please consider contributing to our vital Community Shelter Project. To donate or learn more, visit this campaign here.

Thank you for making a difference.

THERMAL BLANKETS AND FOOD FOR 200 SOULS

Praise Allah for everything.

The Head of Projects at Iltizam Relief Society personally visited Kashmir to oversee the distribution of winter aid.

The first distribution took place in the Rafiabad area of the Baramulla district.
Notably, the local Station House Officer from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department also attended the event, extending their support to ensure the smooth distribution process and offering additional security measures.
During this distribution, we provided thermal blankets and food kits to 28 families, benefiting over 200 individuals in need.

Our distribution of winter aid in Kashmir is carried out with special permits from the authorities, which are necessary due to the heavy military presence in most of these areas.

For security reasons, the distribution process took place in secure locations, such as a volunteer's house compound or schools

The food rations we distributed are sufficient to sustain a family throughout the winter, ensuring they have enough provisions for a period of two months.

Thank you for your support.

We shall update you on our winter aid distribution in other areas.

100 FAMILIES RECEIVED NOURISHMENT IN KASHMIR

Praise Allah for everything.

We have provided food packages to 100 families, sufficient for a 2-month period, especially important as the winter season has set in with temperatures ranging between 4 to 12 degrees Celsius.
The food distribution took place in the Kupwara district, where obtaining special permits is necessary due to the heavy military presence in the area.
Additionally, we have also furnished these 100 families with thermal blankets.
In the upcoming week, we are planning to extend our support to 200 more families across two different districts.
Let's unite to help the people of Kashmir, as they have no one else to turn to but us.

Walking 4 kilometers to receive food aid!

Praise Allah for everything.

Two officers from Iltizam Relief Society from Malaysia visited Kashmir (the Indian-administered region of Kashmir) from 18 August  2023 to 22 August 2023.

The purpose of the visit is to meet our local volunteers and local partners and to have firsthand experience distributing food kits to the poor in their most dire state.

The visit was also to meet our local partner and discuss projects and to ensure also they are running according to our instructions and records are maintained accordingly.

This is an eye-opening visit; it is difficult to describe here the plight of the poor in Kashmir, as well as the orphans and quite a number of single mothers.

On 19 August 2023, Iltizam Relief Society, our local team, and our partner in Kashmir joined hands to distribute food kits to another 50 families. This time, we distributed in the far-flung area of Bandipora, Kashmir.

Masha Allah, we are very saddened to learn that these people have to endure a 4km walk downhill, which takes about 2 hours for them to reach the distribution centre on the foothill.

Their village has no electricity and no roads; hence, it is only reachable by foot or horseback.

Also present and helping in distribution was the "Tehsildar" (sub-district revenue officer who supervises the sub-district administration).

This village has more families that need help; we are making arrangements for some horses next time so that we can reach them instead of having them walk 4km by foot with the whole family.

Winter is coming, and this is one of the villages we must help.

Thank you for all your support.

We had firsthand experience, and we confirm to you that we can do more to help these poor Kashmiris.

Not just this village; there are many more that we have visited.

Thank you again.

Zero Hunger : We are in the news!

On 25 June 2023, we distributed food packs to 50 poor families in a far-flung and high-security village in Kashmir.

This program was covered by a local newspaper, which appreciated the effort taken by Iltizam and our local partner, Human Aid Society Kashmir.

Actually, these 50 food packs distributed in Baramulla district are our initial help because this is the first time Iltizam has extended our Zero Hunger program for Kashmir in Baramulla District.

Before this, we covered mostly Srinagar, Poonch, and Budgham districts in the Jammu-Kashmir region.

Now we are motivated to do more.

Before this, we covered mostly Srinagar, Poonch, and Budgham districts in the Jammu-Kashmir region.

We are motivated to do more now.

Very soon, we are going to distribute to another 100 families in Baramulla. This is a security-sensitive village; hence, our local partner will need a special permit before distribution work can be done.

Please keep supporting this program.

In line with Iltizam’s initiative in all 11 countries, this time we also distributed food baskets along with fresh qurbani meat. This is to enable the poor to cook the meat and enjoy Eid with their family.

ZERO HUNGER: A CHALLENGING MISSION!

23/6/2023, Baramulla, Kashmir.

All Praises to Allah Only. This mission is to deliver just 40 food baskets to people in urgent need of food aid, but it is a very challenging mission.

Our local partner took 2 days to reach this border village near LAC (Line of Actual Control, a border between Indian occupied Kashmir and Pakistan) and return safely back to Baramulla, Kashmir.

They have to use an ambulance to transport the food baskets to avoid any untowardness and ensure better safety.

The village is also located in a heavily militarized zone where a special permit is needed to enter. Alhamdulillah, our team safely returned without any incidents.

Another 10 food baskets were distributed at Baramulla itself. In total, 50 food baskets were distributed.

The innocent orphan kids need our attention, and we should shower them with compassion and love. They may not understand the struggle of their single mothers, but our target is they have enough food on the table and they enjoy their kids' lives while they can.

Help widows and orphans this Ramadan

Due to long-running conflicts in Kashmir, many women and children have become widows and orphans. Their situation is very bad, especially for those in far-flung areas of Kashmir.

This Ramadan, we did the right thing. The food aid distribution in Kashmir benefited hundreds of widows there.

We can still help more while Ramadan is closing down. But we are short on funds.

Please help.

Over 600 people eat suhoor and iftar with your help (watch)

Iltizam Relief Societya year ago

You helped over 600 people today!

After so many obstacles and delays, finally on 30/3/2023 our local partner in Kashmir managed to distribute food packs to 100 families in Kashmir. All praise to Allah.

Thank you to all donors for your support.

Together, we are helping at least 600 to 700 people to eat suhoor and iftar this Ramadan.

The beneficiaries are poor and the needy, especially among the single mothers of Kashmir.

May Allah reward you abundantly and double your reward in this holy month of Ramadan.

The Kashmir issue is just like a time bomb. It will explode anytime, and in the even of any escalation, it will throw the poor Muslims into more suffering and hardship.

They are calling on us for help from their brothers and sisters. All we need to do is share a little of our blessed provision. And Ramadan is the best time to do it.

Share little bit of your blessed provision

"The believers are but brothers" (Q49:10).

Ramadan, it's also a month to double your giving.

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was the most generous of people and he was even more generous in Ramadan (Saheeh Bukhari and Muslim).

Share little bit of your blessed provision to feed the poor and the needy, the orphans and the single mothers in Kashmir this Ramadan.
