A Harsh Reality: Premature Babies Struggling to Survive

One in ten births results in a premature baby—born before 37 weeks—with underdeveloped lungs, a weak heart, and an immature immune system. While this is a global issue, the crisis in northern Syria makes survival even harder.

Why? Because war, displacement, and poverty have shattered healthcare infrastructure. There aren’t enough incubators, medical staff, or essential medicines, forcing hospitals to turn away critically ill newborns.

Without immediate intervention, these tiny infants face severe complications, disabilities, or death.
